Hey everyone!
Thanks for coming to our first meeting, hope you enjoyed it!
Here's a review of the announcements and info we talked about, plus a little we forgot to talk about:
Membership - Dues are $10 per semester. While membership is not mandatory to attend our meetings, members will receive a membership card that grants access to our anime and manga library, special discounts, allows participation in give-aways, and more. Additionally, the first 30 members will receive a bonus gift, first come first serve, while supplies last. You can pay your dues at our meetings, or if you catch our treasurer at our club's desk. Dance group & band signups - We participate in a school festival every semester! If you're interested in joining our dance group, or starting a band, sign up at our desk. (desk #2-06 in the Student Organization Complex, UC phase III, room 2.206) Membership cards - If you've paid your dues, your card will be available for pickup Monday after 2PM from our desk, or at our next meeting. Snacks - We're currently trying out a snack bar; snacks and drinks will be available in the rear of our meeting room. This does not come out of dues, but money left in the snack fund cup. We'll stock it as long as there's money in the fund! Mu Epsilon Kappa - Anime Kurabu is a chapter of Mu Epsilon Kappa (MEK), a national society of anime clubs. We'll be doing great things with them in the future! Members of Anime Kurabu are by extension members of MEK, so be sure to say hi to your fellow members! Hey everyone! Classes have started, and Anime Kurabu is starting soon!
For those new to Anime Kurabu, our meetings are held every Friday from 2PM to 5PM (unless stated otherwise), and dues are $10 per semester. Our meetings are open, and do not require payment of dues to attend.
However, due-paying members receive a membership card that gives them access to our video and manga library, special discounts with certain businesses, free food at extended meetings, allows participation in our giveaways, and more!
UPDATE:
Our first meeting is tomorrow!
As part of our first meeting, we'll be voting on the Members' Choice anime to watch throughout the semester.
Be thinking of anime to nominate! The guidelines are:
•The anime series must be licensed by a US company.
•It can not have been shown on US television.
•It should be 26 episodes or less.
•It shouldn't have been watched in Anime Kurabu (excluding random showings)

If you haven't been coming to our meetings, here's what we've been watching:
Genshiken
This is the story of college freshman Kanji Sasahara and his fellow members of the college club he joins, The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture (aka Genshiken), as he goes shopping for doujinshi, attends conventions and slowly but surely makes his way down the road to fandom.
-Description from animenewsnetwork.com
Baccano!
Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction mashed together for a world straight out of the movies.

Plus something new every meeting!
Our meetings are held Fridays, 2-5PM in the Mesquite Room (UC 2.01.24) unless stated otherwise.

Hey everyone,
This Friday at 7PM we'll be having a national chat with all the chapters of Mu Epsilon Kappa (Anime Kurabu's parent organization). I'd really like everyone to be there!
You can join the chat from our website, or if you're familiar with IRC, by joining #MEK on rizon.
Everyone that comes gets a cookie!
For our general meeting this Friday, we'll be continuing Genshiken, and watching the last episode of Hellsing Ultimate.
Be thinking of your nomination for the next member's choice! Remember that it must be licensed in the US, but not shown on US TV. Additionally, it should be 13 episodes or less or we won't be able to finish it before the semester ends. If you have trouble thinking of one, feel free to write in Black Lagoon, as we already have permission to view it.
